Below you’ll find all the information you might require regarding how annual uplifts can impact you and your monthly invoice.

A summary of
our annual price changes

Contracts signed after 22 January 2025

  • For contracts with nine or fewer services, the annual increase will be either £1.80 or £3.00 per service, depending on several factors.
  • The exact amount and date of the increase will be clearly outlined in your contract order form, Contract Summary and Contract Information documents.
  • For contracts with 10 or more services, the pricing model remains linked to CPI (Consumer Price Index).
  • Annual price increases will be calculated as CPI + 5.5% of each service’s fixed monthly charges.
  • The CPI rate used for the calculation is the “12 month rate” published by the UK government.
  • The most recent rate published up to the anniversary of the contract being signed is used for the calculation. The annual price increase will be applied on the anniversary of your contract’s generation.

Contracts signed before 22 January 2025

  • Our prices are adjusted annually based on the CPI rate of inflation plus 3.9%.
  • The adjustment is applied on each subsequent anniversary of your first bill.
  • The CPI rate used for the calculation is the “12 month rate” published by the UK government.
  • The most recent rate published up to the anniversary of the first bill is used for the calculation.

Annual price change

Each year, we adjust the prices of our products and services in-line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of inflation, plus 3.9% or 5.5% (depending on the date you signed the contract).

To calculate the updated prices, we use the latest CPI “12 month rate” published by the UK government. This rate changes every month, so we use the most recent rate published to the anniversary of your first bill. The increase is then applied on each subsequent anniversary.

In October 2023, the CPI rate was 4.6%. Therefore, customers whose first bill came in December 2023 will see a price increase of 8.5% (4.6% + 3.9%).

From January 2025, CPI-linked price increases only apply to contacts with 10 or more services or for customers with multiple contracts that include ten or more services. 

Contracts with nine or fewer services are also affected by annual price increases but these are calculated using a fixed price model. In these cases, the price increase is clearly stated on the contract documents.  

Customers affected

The annual price increase affects customers who signed a new contract or renewed their contract from December 2022 onward. Customers who signed contracts before this date are exempt from the annual price change unless agreed upon in writing with plan.com.

Frequently asked questions

From January 2025, Ofcom regulations require annual price increases for customers with fewer than ten services to be stated in pounds and pence. These changes ensure price increases are prominently and transparently communicated at the point of sale, specifying when and how much the increases will be.

For contracts with nine or fewer services, we have transitioned from a percentage-based annual price increase to a fixed pricing model:

  • Deals with an ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) below £20 will have a fixed annual increase of £1.80 per service.
  • Deals with an ARPU of £20 or more will have a fixed annual increase of £3 per service.

The specific amount and date of the increase will be clearly outlined in the customer’s order form, contract summary, and contract information documents.

Contracts with 10 or more services will remain on a CPI-linked pricing model, with annual increases calculated as: CPI + 5.5% of each service’s fixed monthly charges.

The CPI figure used will be the most recent available at the time of the adjustment.

The annual price increase will be applied on the anniversary of the contract’s signing.

Customers on existing price rise terms will remain on this pricing model for the lifetime of their contract.

Customers will be informed about the specific price and date of their annual increase through their order form, Contract Summary and Contract information documents. This ensures full transparency and compliance with Ofcom’s regulations.

These changes align with Ofcom’s goal of ensuring customers have clear and predictable pricing during their contract term. The new regulations aim to improve transparency and customer trust in telecom agreements.

Contracts for larger customers with potential for growth can be tailored in collaboration with our sales team to ensure the appropriate pricing structure is applied.

For existing larger customers who add services periodically, the applicable uplift type will be identified and applied to their contract automatically.

CPI, or Consumer Price Index, measures the percentage change in the price of a basket of goods and services consumed by households. It is measured by the government, published monthly, and is preferred over RPI (Retail Price Index).

The Anniversary price change is applied on a per-Connection basis, and the charge increase is effective from the first day of the month following each anniversary of the Service Commencement Date.

We add the Anniversary price change on a per-Connection basis. The Charge increase shall apply to the Service for each Connection from the first day of the month following each anniversary of the Service Commencement Date.

CPI is calculated by the government monthly based on changes in the pricing during the previous month. At the point at which our calculation is made, we use the latest published CPI figure. CPI figures can be found here: https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/inflationandpriceindices/timeseries/d7g7/mm23

The price change will be applied to all reoccurring monthly charges. It will not be applied to additional in-life charges such as those incurred by out of bundle usage or daily activations charges such as roaming bolt-ons.
